The old and fascinating La Loma Cemetery at Undas 2014

I have always dreamed of seeing this place. I can stay here and admire how people of the Philippines used to pay respects to the dead. I was excited to see the old chapel as well as old tombs.

The first tomb I saw with its huge angel was a clear sign that this place will have tons of treasure that I will be more familiar compared to when I was at the Chinese Cemetery.

Built during the last years of the Spanish in the Philippines its one of the places that were able to survive the destruction of World War II and is one of the places to see old architecture and art.

Manila Chinese Cemetery for Undas 2014

It's All Saints Day again and here I am sharing some of the things I have experienced this Saturday, October 25, 2014.

It was early when I arrived at Blumentritt. I was about an hour earlier. I was able to have breakfast and even see this Church. I didn't attend the mass.

The streets were packed early with veggies, and stuff a regular market would have and so are some cats. Cute little things to start the day.

We were not able to start on time but we (together with two friends) started the journey with the Chinese Cemetery. Like any cemetery the street going to the gates are lines with the needed stuff you need for the dead. You have candles, flowers, incense and even colored paper. Of course even your paper money.

Like any other area the place is alive and resident live nearby and of course inside the cemetery. We were greeted by these fellow dog and cats.

We entered the south gate but not the same way as the monkey king did during his attack of heaven. lolz/ We just walked under the gate and saw the many houses for the dead.

I learned amigurumi better while watching it in Japanese

One of the hardest thing to learn was the magic circle or magic ring. Most that claim their way is the easiest it wasn't. So jumping and following instincts I tried to give this Japanese on her video on how to make bear amigurumi.

Don't worry she speaks English once in a while. Just follow and even the magic ring was easier to follow with her.

There are six vidoes and not even knowing Japanese is quite good because you can focus on what needs to be done.

It was my first try and here is how looks like.

October is Museum and Galleries Month and the National Museum is FREE

I am glad to see people visit museum last Sunday. I was able to see one building. The Finance Building where the Museum of the Filipino people can be seen. I will try to visit the other side before the month ends.

Photography is allowed as long as there is no flash.

Do bring your friends and learn something.

Here is a sneak preview!

The National Museum of the Philippines is FREE this October 2014

Joining a photowalk of photographers: A bigots experience

I never gave a fuck to what event they are promoting but its sure tiring waiting for photographers and their drama. I was here because I was invited by my friend and it's a nice way to promote Manila despite its grime and decay of structure.

Anyways don't get me wrong these guys were actually very decent and polite and some of them are friends of heritage and hobbies like crochet.

It was a world photowalk and I think this is their small part of a worldwide event. Armed with big camera and lenses. We scouted parts of Manila despite being harassed by security guards everywhere.

As usual I was more concerned with cats walking the streets and places of Manila.

Deliverance or further enslavement: A list of sins according to one Born-again Church

An office file serves usually contains files needed for work. It's the place where we put books for classes as well as some other reports. But then again you will see people put other things like movies, music and pictures.

I was foraging the files when I saw a folder with the name bible. Looks innocent enough and within the folder is another one called deliverance.

It looks like a list of things a person must be sorry for and must acknowledge and the accept Jesus as a personal savior. You know the drama and fuck most of these born-agains say.

It's composed of four files and the two files are actually the same. I have no idea why one is called short and the other long.

WARNING! This is not for the faint of heart.

AgriLink 2014 at the World Trade Center

It was the so called AgriLink. I thought to myself this would be a bore but I still want to see how the sector is living up to the age of technology and department stores as well as the rising condos and malls.

When I arrived at the World Trade Center the whole place was packed. It's a place where you see dirty looking farmers but it seems that business is still good with the sector.

I have seen foreign investors during the event. From all sorts of plants and animals as well as things that would make their production better.

Politicians also never miss the chance to shove their faces on the event. How fucking annoying!

The event is free and is open for everyone. You just need to register and you will even be given an ID. I wonder how much money from the government or wherever is used in this event.

There are booths selling and promoting this and that. Like any trade event there are booths that give away this and that. My friends got plants, seedlings and even fishes.

There are raffles and promos for products and its also a nice venue to venture if you want to have a feel and need to start business with the agricultural sector.

But then again, with such an event you just get a glimpse. I say it's a superficial. We know the agricultural sector is in deep shit because of the Department of Agriculture.

With freebies and food around you can go with an empty stomach but again there are things you wouldn't try if your stomach is weak.

I guess I am going to next year's AgriLink. But then again I am not taking things because they are free. I take things that I want.

Dumb ways to vote: How the Filipinos fail hard at elections.

Many Pinoys often complain about the government or seem not to understand how come idiots are in office.

So I am ranting again here. Maybe I just had a bad day or its just that I want to feel good about something that is scary true in my country.

Dumb ways to vote comes both English and Filipino attacks on how smart the Filipino voters are. (If you are dumb that is just sarcasm. Pinoy voters are stupid.) And because only smart people will vote for smarter government.

I like the Tagalog version of the song but both songs are powerful!

So this coming elections I am voting for Dingdong Dantes and Nancy Binay.

Blogapalooza (2014) for the Bigot

It was my first time to attend due to the insistence of my friend Pinoy atheist. Actually I signed up for the event but somehow I got lost after the registration. There was no e-mail or what have you. Not even an orb or apparition of the Lady. So I lost interest and even during the day itself it took a lot for my friend to bring me to the event.

We came in late and at the registration I was able to confirm that the registration works. Cool. We usher in the venue. Like any trade fair or what have it has those standard cubicles.

At first I was lost at what to do. There were the standard places where you can take your fucking selfies. I ignored all of that.

It was like going to a Halloween trick or treat only in here you have to sign in at every booth for loot bags and treats. Like many such events many bloggers just came here for the loot bags. I came here just to see things and if there are free stuff why not.

There was food for everyone the problem is that there seems to be no water or drinks to be had except for that beer booth which I had tried for the thirst of it.

There was an ongoing program at the stage of which I just ignored. I was too busy looking at things. There was one celebrity I saw at the Flawless booth and they were kind enough to give me their freebies even if I sucked hard at their balloon thingy.

I also danced like an idiot for an umbrella but too bad we were able to just get a bag.

I went home with lots of papers and stuff from the nice people at the booths. They were all nice and easy despite being at the event for a long time. And indeed in any blogging event there is no such thing as late because I have seen people come late.

The event is like a party for kids except there were no kids but bloggers.

I took some pictures and lots of other stuff on my way home.

How I embellish my blank Papemelroti postcard

Papemelroti has started to create postcards on our request as postcard collectors and senders. They are also encouraging people to creat their own postcards with their very own designs. I am not an artists and inspired by a post on postcrossing.com. I gave it a shot and boy did many people like my simple postcards.

First of all you need to buy some blank postcards from Papemelroti because they are recycled and have been lined at the back.

Generally, I use medium yarns because they are the most prevalent yarn in the country. I also use a 5 mm knitting needle. You need to cast on 25 stitches and then build-up from there. I often just make a stockinette or a garter stitch pattern. Those are easy to make but you can experiment with other patterns.

I am not really a person who deals with too much details. So I had to measure the length of my knit from time to time. (I do this with all the knit postcards I make.)

The Naked Truth versus 69 Bachelors

I think September is a time for people who love looking and drooling at men and boys. In a country of faith that is sacred and holy. The sinful seems to be better done.

I was shocked that aside from the religious criticism Bench's #TheNakedTruth Underwear and Denim Fashion is the one dealing with Coco Martin with a woman on a leash.

In many countries a fashion show is just a fashion show. Models walk down the run way without much gimick than what they are wearing, even the famous Victoria secret maintains itself as a fashion show. But not the Bench show which is actually a show to show the male bulge.

The video uploaded by one person proves its not about the clothes but more of the male meat. The women were just accessories to the crime of fashion. lolz

On the other hand there is the Cosmo Bachelors Bash. This show was catered for the women but to the gay community as well. The show is honest and it just gives the pleasure of people looking at the male bodies in all their glory. There is no need for the bullshit of fashion show.

Well I hope Becn becomes more honest like the Cosmo thing. But then again what do I give a fuck? lolz

The Cagsawa ruins myth

I was often told and maybe most Filipinoes and even the Historical marker that the Mayon Volcano completely buried the Church of Cagsawa and the only thing left was the bell tower. Even the media talks about it as a historical fact.

When I was small I often wondered and imagined it was a big Church. What about the town of Cagsawa? Completely buried?

The commemorative marker states the following:

Church of Cagsaua

The spiritual administration of Cagsaua from 1587 to 1595 was under the Parish of Camalig. An early Church was burned, 26 July 1636, by the Dutch who ransacked the bay. This Church built after 1724 by Fray Francisco Blanco OFM was buried by rocks and lava during the eruption of Mayon Volcano, 1 February 1814. The authorities of Cagsaua meeting at Ligao, 6 July 1814 decided to incorporate their town as part of Daraga. The first centenary of the destruction of the Church was commemorated, 1 February 1914, with a huge pilgrimage to the ruins where high mass was celebrated.

But looking and comparing of the old photos of the ruins shows that the Church was never buried under lava or any volcanic material. The bell tower is just small and appropriate for the small church which was able to retain parts of its facade for sometime until this day where the part that remains is the bell tower.

The Cagsawa Church was never underground with lava.

I wish the media does its research furthermore and books be updated. I know this is just a small matter but for me its a lot.

Bekitaktakan The Deaf Edition: Deaf at LGBT - hindi ka ba takot magka-HIV?

Oh my it's October already and I have been lazy again with things like updating this blog. I have tons of things to upload but for some recent reason this one seems more urgent than the others.

This edition of bekitaktakan tackled the issue of the Deaf community when it comes to government services. I feel the need for them for more easy access and even awareness for DOH people. Of all the people in the government not to understand the disabled.

I learned some new signs with this video.

I also urge you guys to sign the petition here.

Kudos to the people who made this!
