Philippine Orchid Society’s 71st Annual Orchid Show

Philippine Orchid Society had its 71st annual orchid and garden show from February 25 to March 7, 2017.

There were the daily schedules of workshop and talks at the upcoming orchid show . The lectures and workshop is part of the awareness and public lecture conducted by the organization .

The first stop we had was at the commercial section, which sometimes has more interesting plants and flowers than the exhibits themselves.

The orchid show for sometime now has also been a place to see pets like bantam chickens.

There are plant based products that are also selling stuff.

Minasa Festival, Sto. Nino and Heritage Houses: Lakad Pamana Tour (Part 2)

Now I go into the small Municipal Hall of Bustos. It's tight and fully functional. Again with many government offices the restrooms needs a real good clean. It stinks.

The Municipal Hall could also get an overhaul on how it looks and presents itself. True to its history and function.

The insides as I was told is more in keeping to the original look of the Municipal Hall. The grandstaircase with its big painting captures you.

Looking up you see the different leaders of the Municipality til the present. These are the people who helped contribute to the Municipalities history.

Minasa Festival, Sto. Nino and Heritage Houses: Lakad Pamana Tour (Part 1)

Another great town from Bulacan has opened its door to its rich culture, history, heritage and amazing food.

The tour starts at the Plaza Bustos Bulacan.

The Bustos Heritage Park is a nice quaint place where you can experience fun and art in one place. Do not think of anything like the mall. This is the country side. They are not that stupid and gullible with consumerist lifestyle yet.

Registration is straight-forward and easy. And all of the participants are awesome.

I am here to see what Bustos has to offer and the things that might make the place apart from the rest of historically rich Bulacan.

69th Mid-Year Philippine Orchid Show by the Philippine Orchid Society

August 3, 2015, and it's once more the Philippine Orchid show. By this time waking up is no longer a problem but the problem arises because I have to leave the show as soon as possible for we need to fetch our Buddhist Master at the airport.

It's another great day to see beautiful flowers and plants.

Revisiting the Joy of Urban Farming and the Quezon Heritage House at the Quezon Memorial Circle

Since we are already at the area. As part of the tour we also re-visited the Joy of Urban Farming and the Quezon Heritage House.

Flora Filipina 2015 (Part 5)

Last one and I think I took more pictures of the same stuff but I need to be sure that everything is covered and is here. But then again I might have missed still a lot of stuff and details.

So still I wonder why some blogger would not cover this event. Even if you pay the entrance its worth it. Php 30.00 goes a long way. Maybe because some blogger are indeed cheap.

Flora Filipina 2015 (Part 4)

More flowers to come and be seen.

Flora Filipina 2015 (Part 3)

We are now on part three. I hope you are liking all the beautiful flowers and ornamental plants so far.

Flora Filipina 2015 (Part 2)

Here we start with the flower arrangement contest which feature live plants instead of cut flowers. Most of the entries this year are quite minimalist in their approach.

Flora Filipina 2015 (Part 1)

This year the Philippine Orchid Society went big. They have more exhibits and more flowers to showcase the beauty of Philippine flowers and ornamental plants, thus the name Folora Filipina.

Featured are some of the native and dear collections of the members of this society.

There are books and magazines by the society. They are full of wonderful articles and pictures of some of the rare and wonderful orchids we have.

Now I want you yo indulge in the pictures. I will be writing really less.

It's April once more

I have not written anything. Put down by disappointments in life and the struggle to find meaning. I have started learning Buddhism as early as October last year.

I really think that the idea of the nembutsu was just a replacement of the monotheistic God saving a person from suffering. It's Buddhism acting like a monotheistic religion. But I need to learn more about Shin Buddhism and what makes it work for many Japanese and people around the world.

It's also cherry blossom time and we Filipinos have our wonderful flowers but most of them will be in bloom in May.

The Joy of Urban Farming at the Quezon Memorial Circle

This is the project of Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte. It's goal is to make sure that poor families will have food on their tables by encouraging urban farming.

They will teach communities on the proper ways of propagating greens that can be harvested by simple people.

They offer seeds, seedlings and even plants for their visitors.

The Philippine Horticultural Society's Laboratory and its aim of species preservation

Headed by the humble and yet funny Ray Ong. He has started the cultivation as well as the training of people to get into laboratories for business as well as preservation of natural species of plants and flowers.

They have samples of the plants they are propagating though different means.
