Bulacan Culinary and Heritage Tour (Part 2)

Our journey has just started and there are still many things to see and experience. History is alive and well in Bulacan and every where there is a place of history tucked in small areas. This is also a place of heroism and at the same time faith.

Here we continue to the house of Jose Cojuanco. We were only allowed a look from the gates and not within. The house was moved further in and I even saw some piedra china lying outside.

Bulacan Culinary and Heritage Tour (Part 1)

This place has lots of history, wonderful food and good-hearted people. They are a people with an identity and perspective on what it means to be a Bulakenyo.

This tour is very generous and is a feast for the eyes, mouth and for the mind as well.

We enter the compound of the famous Barasoain Church. I take my chance and take photos of the Church in many ways I can since I have no idea when I will ever be coming back.

Rizal Park gets ready for the big Papal mass

With the many barricades around Quirino Grandstand, the place is still being checked for the sounds and many other things this Sunday, January 11, 2015. The mass will be at Sunday, January 18, 2015 to be attended by more than 5 million people.

They were testing that night the sounds and still making up more stuff here and there specially the stage.

Cactus and Succulent Lecture at QC Circle (January 10, 2015)

I was a nice afternoon and some people have actually banded together to learn more about cactus and succulent care and gardening.

Armed with a new camera I set out for the Quezon Circle to a familiar place called Gaycanco Hall or Century Hall. At least I don't have to ask the incompetent guards of the Quezon Memorial Circle or even the police.

LIke many of my journeys in Manila I meet a calico near the area.

The place was already alive with people when I came in. There was a price for the early birds. BTW the event was headed by the Cactus and Succulent Society of the Philippines. They are a small group of enthusiasts for cacti and succulent here in the country.

Before the program started everyone was given their little cacti and succulent.

Give aways... everyone was able to take home one.

What does it feel to be robbed?

It was just another night of going home. I was quite sleepy when it happened.

A group of thugs took away my phone but that was the only thing they took away from me. It was past 2:00 am I was already tired and sleepy by the time we reached Buendia. I was listening to the music of JJ Lin.

Half-unconscious of things around when the robbery hold-up was declared and knives and for me a ice pick. I just gave my phone in a hurry. But I was more worried for the ladies beside me.

When the thugs went down I immediately told the driver to drive to the nearest police station.

And so we did. We told the story over and over the police station. I pity those people the guy who's things were taken and the ladies who was there on the jeep just to get her husband from the airport.

Like in anythings I was not hoping for the crime to be solved. I knew from the first moment that things will never be returned but reporting the incident matters the most.

The police told us the most striking thing about reality. That indeed we cannot do anything unless the police patrol deployed at the area would be able to catch the drugged youth.

I had to stay at the station for sometime and then reflect upon karma. I should not be thankful at all or even saddened. I think this should be a learning experience and I need a new phone.

Here is the police report we are given copies of:

Crochet a granny square for a Papemelroti postcard

I have already made knitted postcards so I had this other idea. Why not make a postcard with a granny square since the Papemelroti blank postcards are squares.

I followed the pattern in here and then added a few more rows.

I then attached it to the postcards with chains. I just made chains and single crochets. And I was able to make something like this.

Honestly this is way easier than a knitted postcard.

I also made other granny squares....

Makati Central Post Office: Y U not updated with stamps?

Its the new year and after the ,on vacation I have decided to buy stamps to be sent out. I went to the naerest Post Office to me that I know - The Makati Central Post Office to buy the Christmas themed stamps.

When I went there I was like.

I am not sure what happened to the Cory Aquino's scented flower stamps. They have Felix Manalo's envelop but without the stamps. Most of their stamps are the not there. I was a bit surprised that they even have some Year of the Ram 2015 stamps.

Again my disappointment with the marketing department of the Philpost. Lies and laziness! How can we make philately alive when you are not doing your jobs?

The Buddhist Parable on the True Nature of Man

Parables are quite common in Christianity because Jesus always uses them to teach. But parables are also utilized in Buddhism as a way to teach deeper learning. I find this parable interesting with its shortness and vivid images of dragons and things. And the way color is used as an attribute of a character in the story.

I encourage you to listen and learn.

This is the parable on the true nature of man
