Bambike Ecotour (A bike tour of Intramuros)

It's been ages since I learned how to bike and I was never a fan of biking. I get scared of small spaces and I get out of focus when I see cars drive by.

I arrived quite early at the venue actually I saw first so I went to Manila Cathedral since San Agustin was closed. There was a mass there and I lingered for a few hours. Then after a few minutes I saw a friend bloggers and the rest of the group came.

The firs ting I took a picture of is this little kitty sleeping at the gate of Casa Manila. He seems so tired and in peace. I hope I am in peace later when the tour starts.

We gathered in Plaza San Luis as the sun rises in the east. The air is warm and its going to be a hot day!

The store is located besides Paper Tole. It's a good sized place for their bikes and their small bar. They have different kinds of bikes for all sizes and uses. They have cheap ones as well as expensive ones. The best part is that they can also customize a bike for you.

Trade and WIN!

source: Money expo site

Well I agree that most games teach you something but this game started for the Philippine Money Expo 2014 is simply interesting. Usually games allow us to earn points in the form of manna and most of the time money.

This game I think is a wonderful learning experience on the game. How can you master the game if you can't have practice and if you do really well then there is a chance to in real money.

YEY! My mind was blown. I mean good game plus you have a chance to earn. I say better sign up fast.  Contest runs starting December 10 until December 31st.

Get Rich from the Financial Market

So without sleep I was worried on going to an event I think is boring. I wasn't able to buy the yarns I need the previous night. I was thinking that if I get bored just knit to keep myself awake.

I arrived early as usual with my good friends from Wazzup Pilipinas. We had the usual chit chat and even talked about the interesting things you can find at the Ortigas Museum especially their Filipiniana books and other stuff. But wait I am here for a thing on the Financial Market.

So first things is to register. I am an early bird and the organizers I say are very professional and warm.

Registration area
After the registration we were given stuff like flyers from some of the sponsors of the event. And there is food as well.

Sample coffee

sample sandwiches
People were given sample snacks to start us with the Market. Let's admit it I have my prejudices about the people who play the game (sorry PUAs not that one). Usually my mind goes George Carlin: Ah those criminal assholes who own everything. But I need to listen and see since this is my first time and we really don't study this in the normal school.

We had two guys who know what they are talking about and how to relate such things to the noobs but at the same time will not bore those who are familiar with the so called Market.

Amar Chadnani and Shyan Lim

This is so much like a crash course on a lot of things about realty, stocks and FOREX. I was trying to be a good sponge listening to Amar and Shyan.

They said a lot of good points that I can share here the rest of the stuff I will leave to the experts to explain.

1. Now an exciting time to start investing.
2. Pinoys are happy people despite not having much.
3. You don't ned to be a boss to be a millionaire
4. You don't need tons of money to start.

and so much more.

All the talk is such over overwhelmingly good that my skepticism arrives like the bullet train. But the thing is I just need to try this out. If these guys can do it then the chance for me to be financially free is probable.

Want to learn and hear from the guys who know how to make the rules eay to understand and at the same time without the drama (You know what I mean).

You can join and sign up for the Philippine Money Expo this 2014.

See the website: http://www.moneyexpo.ph

They are also on Facebook and Twitter.

Thanks also for our very generous sponsors:

1. Snakim and MUZ - food and facial masks

Jesus: Real or fake

Was Jesus Invented?

Many atheists still deny the existence of God and goes as well with Jesus. Unless you come from a camp similar to Bart Ehrman, you would have a more interesting answer for this.

This week my feed was full of this article that Jesus was an invented idea of the Romans. According to Joseph Atwill, Jesus was not a real person according to the ancient sources he had found.

Honestly, I have read many theories about Jesus. We live in a culture forever obsessed with the Jesus story, it might be for or against the character or the person Jesus represents. And most of these stuff written about Jesus is crap. The same goes for the many books written about the Bible and anything related to it. So I urge you guys to be careful.

I am interested with the sources he has to prove his point. But reading the articles about such a report proves that it will just go down the drain for too much conspiracy.

Wazzup Pilipinas Wins As One of the Top Ten Emerging Influential Blogs of 2013

Mr. Ross del Rosario

I was formally introduced with Wazzup Pilipinas during the Manila International Book Fair. My perception of the group was it was make up of a good number of people and bloggers especially its founder Ross Flores Del Rosario.

After just a week or two I heard that Wzzup Pilipinas was recognized as one of the top emerging influential blogs. I was not actually suprisped that it was so.

Wazzup Pilipinas is a community blog open to all who would like to contribute worthy articles that help promote events, happenings, products, places, advocacies and opinions that are of interest to the Filipino people. Its primary goal is to keep its readers well-informed and updated with current events, and the latest trends and issues, in the Philippines.

Wazzup Pilipinas has also made several "bloggers events" arrangements for many companies and individuals who required the participation of bloggers in their online promotions. The number of events organized by Wazzup Pilipinas has reached more than a hundred already and counting.

Wazzup Pilipinas has also currently maintained a staggering number of page views reaching a peak of more than 18,000+ on a single day and an average of 4,000+ daily views. (The statistics improves everyday so this may no longer be the actual data after a few days).

Two awesome sites for your essay

Students like me (when I was studying) like to cram and do other things than their essay. Now there is this nice site called Essay Typer. So what is it?

The About page
Source:essaytyper

It could be of great help for those who are having a hard time to start their essay. But I hope you don't really copy-paste everything like most student do nowadays.

Another site that would be helpful is: How to Cite Social Media in Scholarly Writing

Now you know how to cite those social netwoking sites for your studies. Now where did I hear all of these? Of course Facebook through my smart friends.

I think I am now officially a blogger

Last Wednesday was my unofficial start as a blogger blogger. I mean my blog has beep up for such a time now but I never considered it something really serious but something I just do.

So at the Bookfair I was introduced by a friend to try blogging for Wazzup Pilipinas. So I said yes with tons of hesitation. I mean, me writing? No way I am just an idiot with lots of weird things to say about.

So my true blogging experience and somehow officially was last Saturday at a Japanese Restaurant. It was an event I was not supposed to go to because my plan was to be lazy and immobile as possible. But with pressure I gave in to my friends insistence.

It was a fun event with lots of bloggers with a game I won because we were asked to make an origami. I was quite familiar with origami and following pictures are not that hard for me. I won a sports bottle for that. When I was like, maybe I can't do this but I was.

Travelling a maze of bookstores

The latest book fair this year seemed less bright compared to last year. In fact it was plain and simple. Could be a sign of a dying book industry? Well they better start learning how to market their books well since we know that digital books are really not ours and is not survive better than real books.

The area is huge, its of course the SMX convention and this event happens just once a year. It gathers all the big and small book sellers and distributors of the land (I think of Metro Manila) in one place.

It's a good opportunity for schools, educators for the latest books and materials for teaching as well as developments in teacher education.

If you are a book lover most of the books you need are in one place (and at most) at a decent discounted price. You will go broke if you are a bookworm. But for me with a limited budget its a nightmare where you have nice books but still can't buy them.

I joined with a friend Rence Chan and also the media group Wazzup Pilipinas

What is it about Miles Cyrus?

Source: http://mileycyrustwerkingonreality.tumblr.com/

People will follow whatever shit celebrities do be it smoking, sexing or even twerking. Twerking is a kind of weird dance, some find it sexy, I don't. Some find it cool and a skill, I think any regular slut can do the same and with more character.

So Miley twerked on a sexy outfit at the VMA. Maybe this is the reason I don't watch music awards anymore. They are more for the in betweens than the actual fact of showing how talent must be. There is also the fact of awards being just like any show, something of the so called reality shit people throw around like its really true.

Here in fantard Philippines where we are so conservative and women should behave in a certain way. People are again shocked and as if they have never twerked or anything forgetting that we have many problems that needs to be handles and faced first.

People are indeed stupid in here.

Interesting insight on the Miley Cyrus stunt: 'Miley Twerking On Things We Should Talk About," a tumblog of greatness

Starbucks Reward Card hits Philippines

So the new thing hits fans of this over-priced and over rated cafe - the Starbucks Card. With a big launch at the talk of the town place BGC, the place where you can pretend that no one goes hungry in this third world.

The card is easy to avail and works like a prepaid card for our tingi culture. It's also a rewards card so your jejemon friends can see you as a fucking socialite who drinks coffee. Honestly, nowadays I just go for the cheap ones. The effects are the same.

So if you want to be part of the fan club, go to the nearest Starbucks and get your Starbucks Card.

I heard there is a problem with the registration. Another reminder for our social climbing and high nosed coffee drinkers that they are still in the Philippines.

Epic fail: Let's blame Philippine internet service?

Inday and Dodong needs one

Postsecret

Source: Postsecret site
I have seen books about postsecret when I browse bookstores when I had the luxury before. Some of the things they write in here are quite painful and gives you that feel of crying and pain as well but still you have the urge to peek into people's secret and maybe find some secret that is way painful than your or maybe something you also share.

BTW you can send in your secrets at Postsecret's site or as a member in one of the postsecret swaps on swap-bot.

There is also a wonderful article on Postcrossing.

The Latin Mass in Makati

Facade of St. Peter and Paul
Last Monday (June 24th) I attended a Mass at the oldest Church in Makati - The St. Peter and Paul Parish in Poblacion, Makati. I remember one going to this Church when I was in Elementary. It was old and dark like many thick walled Churches made by the Spaniards.

I had some problems going to the place since I used the MRT to there. starting with MRT Cubao. Yes, Cubao and the tons of people who go in and out of this station. That day despite not sleeping because of insomnia and going out early the MRT had its occasional and traditional technical problems. The line was long and the cars of the train jam packed with people.

Going down Guadalupe station was a great relief and I was able to breathe in again normally. Taking a jeep just below the station takes you to the place in just minutes. You will go down at the end of Rivera street, where you can see the Old Makati City Museum and the Poblacion Baranggay Center.

The invite for the Latin Mass was shared by some of the very traditionalist and cnservative Catholic friends on Facebook. This is actually my second time to attend an Extraordinary Form of the Mass.

Facade of St. Peter and Paul
So why the Latin Mass? Because the Latin Mass has been the Mass of the Church for hundreds of years now and was just replaced just recently. But you are an atheist, what are you doing there? And I say why not? The celebration of the Mass is unique and interesting in and of itself and there is something with Gregorian chant that just brings the idea of the other into context (despite my non-belief).

Historical Marker

Inscrption in Latin
This one is quite new since I remember an older one is marble and broken.
New paint
I arrived at the place early despite all of the delays in travel. Living ina Manila I have to leave at least leave two hours early for anything (unless I am walking) just to arrive on time. I like being on time, no need to hurry and make lame excuses. I took some pictures around like a fucking tourist would.

Everything inside looks new

Even the statues look new and made in China.

The old and new holy water stoup

An inscription in Latin. Looks important since they have to palce it in view.

The Altar of Our Lady of the Rose.

Left side of the Chapel of Our Lady of the Rose.
Right Side of the Chapel of Our Lady of the Rose.

Another view inside the Chapel of Our Lady of the Rose

Stained glass at the top of the Retablo

The Retablo of the Church
I don't like the way they have made the restoration of the Church. It looks old and anceint outside and sickening new and cheap inside. You know the age and color inside just don't go together but is a nice place for the celebration of the Latin Mass.

Before the Mass starts the priest explain on why we are having a Latin Mass. He wa saying that the Mass is something so beautiful to be just set aside and to also make it a point that the Latin Mass is more universal because it is the same anywhere in the world.

There were few people inside the Church despite the small size of the Church, there were only so few people that we were just about a third of the whole Church. A few things I noticed is that people are already ready for the mass with the breavariums and handouts. Yes some people are dressed for the Mass well because of the veils and the works. But some people just wear whatever they want. In this Mass no one checked people if they wearing shorts and no veils. The first Mass I have been to asks people to dress properly or to go out. I like the later one's approach.

The Mass is in celebration of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist and is an important Feast thus this Extra Ordinary Form of the Mass.
Priest explaining the Latin Mass
There is a small separate room below the retablo.

The priest enters with the altar servers and this hooded figure in black.
This Mass has many similarities with the regular mass of Vatican II except that everything is in Latin. So I think that is the only barrier in here but once the veil and incomprehension of Latin things would be easier to follow. But as a beginner it is better to just follow everyone around since there is no one to tell you when to sit, kneel, bow or stand. If you are interested with the Latin Mass I suggest you try Musica Sacra for FREE books and sources.
The main celebrant

Yes, he is facing the altar together with the people.
One interesting point said by the priest is that the priest is not turning his back to the people in fact he is with the people in the worship of the Lord or the deity. some ignorant Catholics think the Latin Mass is snob by pointing at the laguage, which few understand, and the mere fact that the priest turn his back.

There are only  few moments when the priest faces the people that is when he says Dominus vobiscum where he basically tells the people that we are doing this together.
Dominus vobiscum

During the Gospel

Washing of hands, rarely done in the mass nowadays.
It is hard to tell of the experience in words alone and even in pctures because what you will see is a priest assisted by altar boys with their backs all the time. You better check youtube on this and many sites like SantaMissa for more information.

So in the end the experience was way better than the Mass we have in English and Tagalog. As an observer you are forced to focus on what the priest is doing and also to admire the Music, the Liturgy and as well as the Architecture.

BONUS!!!!

As I was going home I decided to walk back since the way is just a straight line along the Pasig River. This area in Makati is quite old and I bet there are many more ancestral and old houses around street corners but I was an old house quite in bad shape but still being used and an abandoned one. I actually saw lots of abandoned houses in here. Makes me think.

An old house I passed by. The joys of walking.

A fallen roof of an abandoned old house.

Even abandoned old houses are not safe from politics
