The event was held at the World Trade Center, Pasay City. The event is held byBig Bad Wolf from February 16th until the 25th. They are open 24 hours. So you wont need to deal with people. Yes, those annoying people who keep blocking isles and is just standing there for no apparent reason.
I left my house at around 1 AM and was there in the venue really fast. There was no traffic and less people. The only problem is that it is late and the evil monsters of Manila are alive and just lurking. Especially that the place is in an area that is often dark. So be careful and be always active, especially with pick pockets and robbers. Do not flash your valuables. Dress simple.
But gladly I made it safe to the venue. The place is still open and I am glad they are really open. There were some people waiting in front. While some like me are still coming in.

I made my way to the entrance fast, which might be long if I came in during the day.
It's that time of the year again for me to buy postcards and to drool at nice books. It is always good to go early on such big events. There are less people still and there are no fucking annoying stupid cosplayers. Yes, I fucking hate cosplayers.

There are rows and shelves of books everywhere. There are textbooks, technical books, tons of religious books and even hobby books.
Without any sleep just to wake up early and on the first day. I was a bit worried about going there too early since I really don't have money to things with. And I usually do my buying quick.
I arrived at the Warehouse at around 9:30 and it was shocking that its already packed and full of people. So far this is one of the best sales they have because they have good titles for everyone. Of course the books and other stuff was just priced right.
OMG! I am so excited for this one even though I am broke as fuck! This is even way awesome than that shit called the Manila Christian International Bookfair whose real name is the Manila International Bookfair.
There would be lots of interesting books and annoying people. But I hope there are postcards.

It's been a long time since I saw the hardbound copy of the book Si by Bob Ong on the shelves of Bookstores. At first I hesitated on buying it but then it was gone after a few days.
Today I saw copies at National Bookstore SM Megamall. Well there were only two when I went there. I took one because I really want to read something else despite the tons of literature on hold.
I needed something familiar and good. The Tagalog language is hard for me these days since my familiarity with English and philosophical stuff.
The book retails for Php 180 and I hope you get a copy as well.
Everyone is familiar with the myth of the Manila Film Center but the myth perpetuates and becomes an urban legend that some people actually believe that hundreds of people were buried alive just to hasten the making of a Film Center as ordered by Imelda Marcos.
Recently the movie was marked with an X by the incomptent and often eclectic thinking people of the MTRCB. They said the movie was too scary. They released an uncut trailer of the movie and guess what, nothing scary about it. The special effects were not good and the acting simply bad.

The movie is based on a book called by the same name by G.M. Coronel. It invest on the already famous urban legend shared by many people. Sadly many atheists also believe that the story is true. Thus many people associate something scary and at times dark with the Manila Film Center.
The book got bad reviews online and is for me a failed attempt at a fast paced horror story. Now I am not sure which is bad among the two the book or the movie but surely the book was bad.
I think having a good movie depends on how a story is told and the actors recreating things. If the movie is an imitation of the book then I say its going to be bad. Seeing John Estra acting as a priest is just a give away.
Look at the scene where people get buried in, such bad acting and special effects. Not realistic and of course not scary.
On a side note we know the story is not true because history tells us and not anecdotes or gossip that no one was ever buried in the theater.
I think Viva films is just hyping up this movie as something good but we know its not just by looking the trailer and the book it was based upon.
Save your money and watch foreign movies instead. Watch a movie because its good not because its Filipino since we know that Filipino movies are shit and crap nowadays.

With bare feet I entered the Main Hall of the Mabuhay Temple located on the second floor. One can be impressed of the cleanliness and simple beauty of the Hall.
OK I heard of him from a classmate fan of mine when I was a freshman in college at the Philippine Normal University. Unlike many people who gather around and talk about this and that I kept to myself and my so called way of studies.
I had a group at that time. It was a learning experience to be with them. Now I know whom should I keep as friends and those I keep an eye on.
I just lived life at that time and have read some of Ferdi's writing on the Torch or sometimes called the Sulo. The Torch or Sulo is the official school paper with many interesting and often times radical ideas. I enjoyed reading the stories and poetry there.
I have never met Ferdi as what my classmate calls him because I have no other way of talking or referring about him. Often times I confused him with another Ferdi from a higher class.
Life went on and so did the years. I read from the publications of the school the raw realities of life and at the same time how wonderful it is. I am glad and proud to be a PNUan because of the things I was able to learn and read.
I am now just an asshole trying to write my life so at least someone can remember. I wish I can be eloquent even in Filipino but I am neither good in English.
I was also planning on buying his book, "Anim na Sabado ng Beyblade." But I feel would suffer another mood swing and tantrum like I got so stressed reading books by Eros Atalia. I feel Ferdi would also affect me the way I was affected by the rich literary culture of PNU with its brilliant minds.
Last Sunday I was able to chance upon a concert of his at the Concert at the Park. I was like OMG! I bought the album despite its ghetto looks. I doesn't matter I am buying the music.

Sometimes I really have to think twice about going to this event. First, worry are those fucking stupid cosplayers I really hate the fact that such a serious event becomes a joke with plain minded freaks called the Filipino cosplayers. Then there is a worry of not buying anything. Yes, there are discounts but what would I do with Christian books? While other books are just the same price as you buy them at the store on normal days.
But then again I pulled myself from sleep and went to the fair. At least this time Bookmark was selling postcards for one pesos. That was a great find for me.
I also saw this nice store where they sell nice shirts, they are Christian but I don't care, shirts are cheap and well designed.

I also realized that being a nobody is much better. I just have an obligation to myself. So what if I cannot cross lines as a media person. As long as I can do what I want that matters. Buying books, tshirts and even postcards. And now saying what I have in mind without even thinking about if I am wrong or right.
So I decided to go to the Books for Less Warehouse sale in Pasig. I a not meet my friend who says confusing ways of going to the area in the most ambiguous ways as well.
I went to Ortigas Shaw and took a jeep going to Pasig Palengke (Market) and went down the Rotonda area. I met my friend there are took a tricycle going to La Consolacion College Pasig on Mercedes Ave. We arrived at the Warehouse at around past 9 am.
It was a hot day with no hint of rain. The place was quite small and a bit crowded with tables almost touching each other. The space for walking among the stacks of books can barely allow a person to go through and may take an effort when passing another person.
I am almost out of money and then I went to National Bookstore in Megamall. It's one of the places I go to. Then I bought some pineapple hopia from Holland. Too bad they didn't have kundol hopia.
After that I passed by Powerbooks to look at magazines. So far nothing interesting. I browsed without thinking through their bargain books then I saw this book. "Who wrote the Bible." The fuck I read this book for free from a PDF file I got online. I grabbed it and paid for it.
"Who wrote the Bible" by Richard Elliot Friedman is the common's man guide into the origin of the Bible. It presents the scholarly facts that was gathered concerning the authorship of the Bible without the crap most Christians put in the name of their religion.
It talks about the documentary hypothesis and how each of the first five books of the Bible were created. It's a must read for everyone since many people are still blind about their Bible and just assume everything they hear in Church is real.
The Collective Flea Market happened one day. There were lots of interesting people as well as weird ones, old books, and some old stuff as well.
There were lots of things to buy and places to see as well as stores. In the end I ended up buying nothing. Yes there were weird music as well. Something normal people like me would never understand.
There are a handful of reasons on why I get up early in the morning. Mostly it's something related to my hobbies or I just accidentally said yes to a commitment without even thinking.
sales are one of those shallow things I enjoy even though most of the time I end up buying nothing. Most of the time I really go to sales and end up with nothing because the sale sucks or there is nothing really there to buy.
I went up early on a payday just to buy postcards. I am not really planning to buy a lot since I still got lots of postcards from last time.
So I got up on the train and I just woke up a bit late but I still have time with me. And I arrived there at past 9 AM.
There were already some people here and there but the crowd number is manageable for me. I hate huge crowds.
There were lots of school supplies though despite being old stock would be good for parents and students.
Guys, save up and I might buy tons of postcards this time again. Now its not going to be at that far away place in Quezon Ave. You don't have that excuse to say its far. Now its just in Cubao.

This is my first time to do and really focus on a stamp auction. Usually I cannot sit down and listen to the stamp auctions being done by the Filipinas Stamp Collectors Club.
It's the first Sunday f the month and I head to the PHLpost alone. I know people will be there but I rather keep to myself when doing things like this. You know I am a lone wolf.
I went a bit late and I noticed that this group has fewer people in attendance. I wrote my name and got a number. I chose 13 for luck.
Most of the items are interesting and quite cheap. I had my eyes on the maxicards as well as some stamps. I have my auction list marked jut in case. I have a little budget and I said I must not exede Php 500 for the stamps. I need to survive till Thursday.
