Visiting San Miguel de Mayumo: Breakfast at BJs (Part 2)

You cannot miss BJ Snack House when you are at San Miguel, Bulacan. It is beside a water tower. When we arrived at the venue some bikers have already planned their breakfast at the area as well. That is a good sign.

Their place is quite modern and has an appeal for the so called millenials. Simple and Instagram-worthy. The place is a good place to start an adventure on food.

Their story

In 1979, Vivencio Cruz Chico, a public servant, and his beautiful spouse, Felicidad Ligon Chico, established an eatery that mainly serves “GOTONG BABOY” and best matched with “PAN DE CARNE” to cater San Miguelenos love for hot dishes. By 1982 it was named BJ Snack House.

When Nana Felicing passed away, Gracita Chico Dimacale, the only daughterof the forebearers, took over the gotohan.

BJ stands for Billy Johnson, the eldest son of Gracita, and the eldest grandchild of the household.

Reliving the memories

Unfortunately, BJ Gotohan closed in 2007. Through the years that it was closed, many customers are still craving the taste and asking for the original Gotong Baboy. This is the reason why Jam, youngest son of Gracita, decided to open the restaurant again. And his childhood friend, Lei, supported him, in loving memory of Gracita who acted like her second mother.

Through this, family and friends has come together to bring you the new BJ Snack House.

I mean for just Php 49.00. You can get to taste awesome goto. Way better than most of the places you know in Manila and at a good price as well.

With the current awesome owners of the popular snack house. One that is build and still stand because of memories.

You can also try something interesting here as well. Their buro or something I called fermented rice meal.
